The Runaway Assistance Program (RAP) is a program to assist police officers who are dealing with runaways during the hours that juvenile court is closed (evenings, weekends and holidays). RAP provides a safe place, off the street, where law enforcementcan bring a runaway child, age 17 and under.
If the police officer determines a child cannot be safely delivered to a parent, guardian or authorized individual (including DCF), the police officer may dial “2-1-1” from any phone and will be directed to a Mass211 Runaway Assistance Program Specialist who can assist the officer in identifying a safe location for the youth in
For more information or to activate the RAP program
local police can dial 211 ext. 10 to reach a RAP Specialist.
