Mass211, the Commonwealth's official information and referral line, has expanded its services by offering in-person assistance to help residents connect with essential health and human services, according to a community announcement.

The new service, which went into effect on Jan. 12, aims to help those who may need more personalized guidance in navigating available resources, according to the announcement.

Previously, Mass211 was accessible only by phone or online. Now, residents can meet with a trained information and referral specialist at the United Way of Tri-County's Pearl Street Cupboard & Café, 46 Park St., Framingham. This in-person assistance is available from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays and will move to Tuesdays when a holiday lands on Monday. No appointments are necessary.

Information and referral specialists who are knowledgeable about local programs and resources can help individuals connect directly with the services they need, saving time and reducing frustration.

For 20 years, Mass211 has been a resource for individuals and families seeking help but unsure where to turn, according to the announcement. With a database of more than 40,000 regularly updated resources throughout the state, it connects residents to a wide array of services. They include:

  • Employment and job training
  • Financial coaching
  • Emergency shelter
  • Elder care
  • Utility support
  • Mental health and addiction programs
  • Veteran services
